I'm Meant To Be A Sean

Whenever I asked my parents what they would have named me had I been a boy my father says 'Sean', you and your sister were both Sean until you were born!

That's probably got a fair bit to do with the Irish blood running through our veins, not to mention having been born and raised in a part of country Vic with a high Irish and Catholic population!

My sister and I went to Catholic primary and Catholic Girls secondary college (currently lapsed so to speak from being active catholics!), where every second kid was a Murphy, Doyle, Kelly, Walsh, Lanigan, Doherty, O'Brien, O'Rourke, McMahon, Fitzpatrick, etc etc.

It's quite ironic that Mr Mel while his surname is German, his Mother's Maiden name is Doyle! Just can't keep the Irish away :).

I spent a month in Ireland 10 years ago, and it felt so much like where I grew up in country Victoria, no wonder my family gravitated to the area many moons ago!

So on this 17th of March, the day of the death of Saint Patrick, a wee blessing for you all:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand

As a nod to the blood of my ancestors, tonight we shall be dining on slow cooked lamb shoulder, champ, cabbage & Guinness, followed by a Irish Creme Brulee!

Till next time,
